23 Engineer Regt Medal Parade 2011

As you will be aware the boys will be back from Afghan soon and we will be having a medals parade here in Woodbridge.  I would be grateful if you could disseminate the details below around the Association and possibly have the event placed on the web-site.

I realise that the event is only 6 weeks away but comms and planning between Afghan and UK have been slow to say the least.

23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault) - Afganistan Medals Parade Thursday 31st March 2011

Shortly after the Regiment's return from Operations they will be holding a parade to mark the event and for the presentation of campaign medals to those who have served on Op Herrick 13.  The reviewing officer will be Maj Gen C Boag CBE, who will be assisted by the EinC, Commander 8 Force Engineer Brigade and the Deputy Commander of the Joint Helicopter Command.

The parade will take place on the Regimental Square within Rock Barracks and will start at 1100hrs.  It is requested that those attending be present and seated by 1050hrs.    Tea and biscuits will be served in the WO's & Sgt's mess prior to the parade from 1000hrs for all veterans attending the event, and a buffet lunch will be provided after the parade on a repayment basis.   All past and present Airborne Engineers are more than welcome to attend and are requested to inform Capt Jackie Draper on 01394 462409 who will require names and vehicle details.

The afternoon following the parade will be filled with inter Sqn sporting events within the barracks and all visitors are welcome to spectate.  Unfortunately there will be no accommodation available within Rock Barracks for those travelling long distances but assistance finding local, reasonably priced hotels can be gained from the Hive on 01394 421359.

We look forward to seeing you all there.
Happy Landings
