Fred passed away on 27th March 2000. He started his service life as a 'boy' entrant at the Duke of York's College at Arborfield in 1943.
Fred served 8 years with the colours in Palestine with 1 AB Sqn RE (1947-48) in Germany and England with 9 Indep AB Sqn RE (1948-1951). From 1951 he served in Gibraltar.
He joined the police force for a short duration prior to his appointment as the area Road Safety Officer with the Kent County Council, with whom he remained until retirement. A competent soldier with a quiet disposition and popular and at ease with his colleagues.
