Ron Burgess

Ron Burgess a former member of 9 Indep Para Sqn RE passed away 12th June 2012.

For many years Ron had suffered the debilitating Lyme decease, which he had contracted after being bitten by a deer tick while on holiday in the USA. The Aldershot branch members, under the chairmanship of Derek Taylor, purchased a wheelchair for Ron, which greatly improved his quality of life. In recent years however his illness, despite the use of a wheelchair, greatly restricted his mobility and he was unable to attend our meetings.

To his credit Ron never complained of his illness and was always ready to share a joke with his friends and colleagues.
