Peter Ives

Peter Ives

The Aldershot Branch recently received the belated news that Peter Ives, a former branch member had passed away. Nothing is known of the circumstances which led to his death as the news came via Mick Porter of the Aldershot Branch of the Royal British Legion. We unfortunately received no notification concerning the funeral details until some weeks after his burial.

Peter was one of the founder members of the Association and during its infancy took on the role as secretary. A role that was later taken over by John Thompson.

Peter left the Aldershot area only months after the formation of the Aldershot branch and joined the newly formed Kent branch of the AEA. He underwent surgery for the amputation of his leg and from then on appeared to drop out of sight until notification of his death was sent to the Royal British Legion.

Three good quality wall prints of the Battle of Arnhem and a number of books were retrieved from his flat by relatives, these have now been donated to the library of 23 Engineer Parachute Regiment at Woodbridge. His grave site is unknown as are any living relatives, but acknowledgement of the donations to the regiment will be relayed through Mick Porter to the RBL.
